(Werner Herzog, US 2005, 81 min., 35mm)
Herzog’s visually hypnotic science-fiction fantasy interweaves actual footage of a space shuttle crew in zero gravity, lectures by mathematicians, and an eerie jazz score by cellist Ernst Reijseger and Wolof singer Mola Sylla. Meanwhile, a space alien (played by cult actor Brad Dourif), stranded on earth for decades, prowls around a desert town while the shuttle crew prepares to explore his oceanic home planet.
