(Matty Rich, US 1991, 91 min.)
Writer-director Matty Rich was only 19 when he made this heartfelt and raw look at life in a Brooklyn ghetto. The story centers around young Dennis Brown (Larry Gilliard Jr.), who plans to escape his brutal family life by robbing a dangerous drug dealer with his two best friends. Actor Gilliard (Gangs of New York, HBO’s The Wire) will introduce this unpolished gem of independent cinema, and answer questions following the screening. Members admitted free.
