Infamous criminal “The Phantom” (now played by Christopher Plummer) apparently comes out of retirement to steal the priceless Pink Panther diamond from a well-protected museum in the fictional kingdom of Lugash. Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Peter Sellers, returning to the character after an 11-year hiatus) and his manservant Cato (Burt Kwouk) embark on the jewel’s trail misled by The Phantom’s wife (Catherine Schell). Meanwhile, Clouseau’s incompetence draws his boss (Herbert Lom) ever closer to insanity.
