35mm

Writer/director Mazursky’s semi-autobiographical portrait of a young actor (Lenny Baker) making his way through the Bohemian landscape of 1950s New York is one of the very best films of the 1970s. In addition to the late Shelley Winters in one of her finest performances (as the hero’s overbearing mother), the cast of mostly then-unknowns includes Ellen Greene, Christopher Walken, Antonio Fargas, Jeff Goldblum, and even, very briefly, Bill Murray in his big-screen debut. After the screening, acclaimed filmmaker Mazursky, whose other triumphs include An Unmarried Woman , Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice, and Down and Out in Beverly Hills, will discuss his career in film and answer audience questions. Tickets $10, $8 members and students. Advance tickets available at the Dryden Theatre box office or by clicking on the link below.
