Hellzapoppin'

(H.C. Potter, US 1941, 88 min., 35mm)

In a frantic comedy that will have you laughing until it hurts, the genius team of Ole Olsen and Chic Johnson recreate their famous Broadway show, with help from Martha Raye and our favorite projectionist, Shemp Howard. The musical numbers alone are worth the price of admission, but there are plenty of other wacky surprises in store.

At 8:45 pm:

It's in the Bag

(Richard Wallace, US 1945, 87 min., 16mm)

Radio comedian Fred Allen, in a rare starring vehicle, plays a flea circus owner who comes into an inheritance, which leads to a series of madcap episodes involving (among others) Jack Benny, Don Ameche, Rudy Vallee, and William Bendix. Two films for one admission price. Advance tickets are available at http://dryden.eastmanhouse.org, the admissions desk, Dryden Theatre box office, or (585) 271-3361 ext. 295.
