In her Oscar®-nominated screen debut, actress Catalina Sandino Moreno plays fearless Colombian teenager Maria. Struggling to support her family, Maria becomes a drug mule and flies to New York after swallowing 62 heroin capsules. Her compelling and harrowing odyssey is told with suspense and a keen observational eye by writer/director Joshua Marston. Maria, Marston’s first feature, will be preceded by two of his short films, TRIFECTA (1997, 16 min., 16mm) and VOICE OF AN ANGEL (2001, 10 min., 35mm). Marston will discuss his work and answer questions following the screenings.
