(Joe Dante, US 2005, 60 min., dvd projection)

American soldiers killed in a current war begin returning home as zombies with rotting flesh. Dressed in their desert fatigues, the soldiers turn deadly only when they’re kept from voting the reigning political administration out of office. This devastating satire from the director of Gremlins and The Howling was made for cable television’s Masters of Horror anthology series. Followed by DEATHDREAM (DEAD OF NIGHT, Bob Clark, US 1972, 90 min.) Initially thought killed in action in Vietnam, Andy Brooks returns to his small hometown and soon develops a craving for human blood that drives him to stalk victims. An atmospheric, moody horror film, Deathdream is also a perceptive critique of a patriarchal society that willingly sacrifices its own sons.
