This three-part 2004 anthology of erotic stories concludes with the final work of Italian master Michelangelo Antonioni, whose segment “The Dangerous Thread of Things” is drawn from his book That Bowling Alley on the Tiber. Wong’s marvelous “The Hand” is a visually exquisite period piece about a prostitute (Gong Li) and her tailor (Chang Chen). Soderbergh’s “Equilibrium” is a satirical piece set in the 1950s starring Alan Arkin and Robert Downey Jr. Preceded by Antonioni’s penultimate work, MICHELANGELO EYE TO EYE (LO SGUARDO DI MICHELANGELO, Italy 2004, 20 min., 35mm).
