(George Miller, US/Australia 1998, 95 min.)

After an accident incapacitates Farmer Hoggett (James Cromwell), ever resourceful Babe the Pig sets out to save the farm. Stranded in a Megalopolis bed & breakfast, our hero must win over the other initially hostile animal tenants, including orangutans, chimps, dogs, cats, and a goldfish. With a deft understanding of the power of film grammar and using the kinetic visual style he brought to his Mad Max trilogy, brilliant filmmaker Miller has created a funny and moving sequel that is just as good as the original. The bizarre production design and melancholy tone has made Pig in the City more popular with adults than children. Preceded by THE HARDLY BOYS IN HARDLY GOLD (William Wegman, US 1995, 28 min.)
