Tribute. “I’ll have what she’s having ….” The deli scene has become such an iconic moment in popular American film that it’s easy to overlook the smart, bittersweet romantic comedy that surrounds it. Based on an idea by director Reiner and filled with hilarious contributions by star Billy Crystal (that classic line was his), the late Nora Ephron’s wittiest script follows a pair of New Yorkers (Crystal and his perfectly matched costar Meg Ryan) who attempt to answer an age-old question: Can a guy and a gal ever be “just friends”?
