(Buster Keaton, US 1924, 44 min.)

New Dryden. Remarkably innovative for the time period, Buster Keaton’s homage to the possibilities of cinema has been called one of the greatest comedies of all time. Running a lean 44 minutes, Keaton is a love-struck film projectionist who longs for the glamorous life of a silver screen sleuth. Befuddled by a mystery man known only as “The Sheik,” he walks toward the screen and into the action! Keaton’s achievement has inspired countless filmmakers from Chuck Jones to Woody Allen.
