Silent Tuesdays. Just as WWI prompted many new spiritual and social strategies in Europe, new prejudices arose as well. One of the most unusual was the British fear of American Mormons enslaving widowed and unmarried Englishwomen, a terror luridly exploited in this barnstorming adaptation of a propagandistic novel starring American actress Evelyn Brent. Needless to say, many of the “facts” presented here are preposterous — you will never see, and there never existed, Mormons quite like this anywhere!
