(Brian De Palma, US 1976, 98 min.)
Halloween. Raised by her overbearing mother and repeatedly harassed by other high school students, Carrie White (Sissy Spacek) begins to fall into despondency. As the abuse heightens, however, so do her latent supernatural powers. Culminating in a shocking and brilliantly directed climax, Carrie is undeniably one of the best film adaptations of a Stephen King novel, and one of the key horror films of the 1970s.
