Dietrich. Forced to take to the stage to pay for her husband’s medical expenses, Helen Faraday (Marlene Dietrich) finds herself slipping deeper into a life she cannot escape. After a relationship with a young Cary Grant, she leaves her husband and child and goes into hiding. Dietrich performs three musical numbers in this unrelenting pre-Code drama.
