(Charles Chaplin, US 1952, 137 min.)
Chaplin stars as Calvero, a drunken, aging comedian whose milieu of the English music hall is quietly vanishing around him. A moving twilight reflection of Chaplin’s own roots, Limelight intersperses nostalgic memories of classic routines with sentimental affection for up-and-coming ballerina Claire Bloom. Buster Keaton appears in a cameo, his only on-screen pairing with his great rival.
