
THE DARK CRYSTAL

Jen, a Gelfling, begins a heroic journey to restore a missing shard to the Dark Crystal. If he fails, the evil Skekses will control the universe. Leaving Kermit and Co. behind, the film marks a collaboration with famed illustrator and conceptual designer Brian Froud. Henson, Oz, and their Muppet crew have created a thoroughly convincing new universe that pays homage to J.R.R. Tolkien, the Brothers Grimm, and Joseph Campbell. THE MAD MAGICIAN (John Brahm, US 1954, 72 min., 35mm)
Vincent Price follows up his House of Wax triumph with this tale of an illusionist who sets out to destroy his rivals. Eva Gabor and Patrick O’Neal join in the thrills. MISS SADIE THOMPSON

Somerset Maugham’s oft-told Rain gets the 3-D and TechnicolorTM treatment. Fiery redhead Rita Hayworth plays the title character, a good-time gal waiting between ships on a South Sea Island when she earns the wrath of a sanctimonious preacher (José Ferrer). Aldo Ray and Charles Bronson are along for the fun ride. Fresh popcorn, candy and soft drinks will be on sale in

GUN FURY
(Raoul Walsh, US 1953, 83 min., 35mm)
When the stagecoach he’s riding in is held up and his fiancée (Donna Reed) is kidnapped, left-for-dead Rock Hudson vows to bring back his girl and get even with the men who done him wrong. Co-stars Lee Marvin and Neville Brand bring menace to the gorgeous Arizona locations. Fresh popcorn, candy and soft drinks will be on sale in

KISS ME KATE
(George Sidney, US 1953, 109 min., 35mm)
“Brush up your Shakespeare” with this wonderful, magical musical in TechnicolorTM and 3-D. The story updates the bard’s The Taming of the Shrew and takes place behind the scenes of a Broadway musical. The outstandingly energetic cast includes Kathryn Grayson, Howard Keel, James Whitmore, Keenan Wynn, Bob Fosse, and Ann Miller, whose long legs you’ll have to duck when they’re kicking! Preceded by The Three Stooges in the 3-D Pardon My Backfire (Del Lord, US 1953, 20 min., 35mm).
